Nova Lifts ryger-house-banner

Working with architects, the Ryger House project involved the construction of two bespoke, luxury lifts. One located in the front office reception area of the building to serve the office locations and the second to give access to the high end, private apartments in this premium, central London location.

Located directly above the Victoria line close to Green Park tube station and adjacent to the Ritz London Hotel on the edge of Mayfair, this was a particularly challenging project for Nova Lift Company due to the building location, its construction and the unique challenges of the project installation.

Project Scope
The scope of the project was to provide the two stylish high end lifts within the award winning development of Ryger House within the refined area of St.James’s SW1.

Due to the location of the building, this introduced additional complications to the overall design and construction of the lifts. In addition the existing office development had already been demolished and the entire design and installation of the project was to be completed in a condensed time frame.

After careful consideration, the design team decided upon a steal framed building which would be mounted on a steel raft to spread the footprint loads over the shallow underground tube lines. The lift shaft itself was of steel construction and so too where the lading floors.

One of the biggest challenges for the installation was to maintain lift floor levels of plus or minus 1 mm, despite the design tolerance of landing entrances moving up to 35 mm. However, Nova Lift Company achieved this with specially designed floor levelling devices, unique at this time to the lift industry, and purpose made guide retaining devices to prevent the guides from buckling.

Aesthetics
The interior design and the overall aesthetics of the lifts was always a high priority for this project and a luxury finish was achieved with the use of brushed bronze stainless steel architraves, that were LED back lit, to provide a soft but efficient frame to the landing entrances.

The internal lift car was lined in chamoes leather, to the side walls, with a suspended ceiling fitted with variable mood lighting framed in bronze stainless steel. Additionally, the flooring tiles were bespoke sizes to carry through and complement the landing reception area.

One of the major issues to overcome was to provide security for the apartment lifts, but this was beautifully achieved with a bespoke, invisible security entry fob system.

Conclusion
This project continues to be a show piece within the Nova Lift Company portfolio of high end, luxury lift installations, and further enhances our reputation for providing innovative, quality installations within limited timescales.

Nova Lift Company continues to provide preventative maintenance and service for these two bespoke lifts within Ryger House, to ensure continued premier performance at all times for this unique project.

Aesthetics
NLC Nova Lift Company designed the lift using 3D CAD drawings to finalise the fine details for this special project and installed the bridal lift for the Atrium Hotel. The overall style and design incorporated glass walls to maximise the exposure of the bride, and a gold polished canopy top and bottom of the car to enhance the luxury and opulence of the design. The overall style complemented the other finishes within the wedding venue and the interior design of the bridal lift was achieved through bespoke choices; low LED interior lighting to highlight a white wedding dress, LED exterior lighting around the circumference to spot light the lift within the large venue, and floor and wall designs incorporating customer specific colours and finishes.

Conclusion
Nova Lift Company is extremely proud to have been involved with this project, providing a unique and bespoke design to meet the both the technical requirements of the project, but also the visual concept and wow factor to hopefully exceed the expectations of any bride on her special day.
